Robert Smithson - JUST Insurance

Robert Smithson, CEO & Founder of JUST Insurance (Insurer), talks about JUST, fair insurance, telematics, sports betting, and Robert's interview hat.

Consumers don't care about telematics. I care about telematics because it means that I can keep the best risks.

Andrew Johnston - Willis Re

Andrew Johnston - Willis Re

Andrew Johnston joins me from his new abode in Nashville, TN, to discuss InsurTech, investment, and shearing alpacas. Andrew's background is enthralling. He "sold" his Ph.d. to the UN, farmed sea cucumbers in Indonesia, and established Willis Re's InsurTech group.

..when is it [investments in InsurTech] going to burst? The answer is—it's really hard to know because if the terminology or the definition keeps getting wider and wider, then everything that is anything in our industry is going to be captured as an InsurTech investment.

Avi Tuschman - CIO and Founder of Pinpoint Predictive

Avi Bartov - GamaSec

Avi Bartov - GamaSec

In this episode, I had a very interesting conversation about Cybersecurity with Avi Bartov, the CEO and co-founder of GamaSec. GamaSec provides pre-breach services helping commercial lines insurance brokers and carriers to manage risk and provide cybersecurity education to their policyholders.

…they (small, medium businesses) do not have the same budget, they do not have an IT security department, they do not have the IT people in order to solve those security issues. Therefore they are more open to be a target to the hackers.

Ben Munro - Briza

Ben Munro - Briza

In this episode, I had the pleasure of hosting Ben Munro. Ben and I talked about delivering commercial insurance via API, about his company--Briza, building a company that service insurance agents and insurance carriers, founding and funding a startup, CX vs. KPI, and Lord of the Rings.

In 2015 or 2016, you didn't have APIs to work with. There was no way to connect back into insurers. For the most part. What you ended up having was a very user-friendly slick website, a very very nice kind of online experience, but it was really a call center that was trying to fulfill those risk placements.
